In this month’s Field Guide, I’m looking at a garden in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, where a problem with compacted ground and drainage has ended up helping shape the whole design.
There’s also a new Pattern Reading section, where I pick up on some of the ideas and trends beginning to shape gardens and landscapes, from the rise of the little hill to regenerative design and the return of the analogue garden.
Elsewhere, there’s a slightly unconventional October harvest from my own garden, six things I’ve learnt from using no-dig, and a first little glimpse of Seed, a new Patterned Earth garden consultation service I’ve been quietly cultivating.
A collection of gardens, plants, ideas and things I’ve noticed along the way.
