How does steward work?

Whether we’ve designed your garden from the ground up, or you’re looking for expert help with an existing space, our ambition for steward is to provide the best advice, help and practical support, giving you access to skilled horticultural support, tailored advice, and gentle guidance to keep your garden looking its best year-round.

At our initial visit we'll walk through your garden together, understand its story, assess plant health, and discuss your goals. We'll then put together a tailored care plan that could include a specific plant brochure for plants in your garden, seasonal or monthly care plans that suits your garden and your involvement—tailored to plants, layout, and lifecycle. If in the plan, we carry out visits according to your plan—quarterly, monthly, or seasonally—handling tasks ourselves or guiding your gardener. You’ll receive updates, reminders, seasonal advice, and we remain on hand for questions or one-off support between visits.

who will I work with?

You'll work with Brian Roberts, patterned earth's professional, accredited garden designer.

In discussion with you, we recommend to bring in specialist consultants covering things like soil science, arbory etc - should the need arise.

what do i need to provide?

As per our Standard Terms of Engagement, which you can find on the patternedearth website, our Clients are important collaborators to deliver the outdoor space you desire. While we work together we make some reasonable requests to make sure we deliver what you need, such as providing a client brief to get us going, any relevant site information you have to hand, access to the site, and ad hoc communication between us

We'll firm up these arrangements during an early visit to you at site.

what will we achieve?

As our tailored aftercare service, steward takes you from the early days of your new garden to a few months or even years down the line, so you can receive periodic expert advice and support.

At any point during the steward service you'd like to discuss larger changes to your outdoor space, we're on hand to chat about your needs and what patterned earth can offer.

What will i receive?

This really depends on the tailored care plan you need based on our conversation and site visit. We'll then build the right plan around you and your garden

What if I would like to use patterned earth for my garden again after your sketch service has completed?

Because we've worked with you already, we have most of the key information we'll need – should you to either want to have us back at a later date if your vision for the garden changes.
