At patterned earth, we approach every project with senses heightened - listening, observing and recognising patterns in nature, landscapes, buildings and peoples’ relationships with them.
We like to build upon these often-untapped rhythms, to reveal the essence of each place, elevating them through beautiful, innovate design.
We like to draw
We appreciate an artisanal and bespoke approach to the craft of great design. We think that the process of design is just as important as the finished product.
Doing things as well as we can, rather than as fast as possible is key. Quality over quantity. While we use computers to aid our designs, we still draw by hand as a key part of our creative process.
All our creations share the Secret of Somewhere
- Gardens and landscapes at home in their wider settings, functional and beautiful in equal measure
- Lines are often blurred, connecting homes and gardens with broader environments
- Boundaries can be permeable, and materials found locally and sustainably
- Planting is simple, elegant and often drawn directly from wider landscapes, with all the benefits of resilience and biodiversity that this brings
- Ours are gardens of restraint and light-handedness, celebrating nature, which stand the test of time
